Writing an Essay - Write For the First Time

Writing an Essay - Write For the First TimeWriting an essay, especially a college essay, can be intimidating. You could easily spend all day writing it, but that would be unproductive. It is better to break it down into smaller segments and deal with each one as it comes up. That way you will keep the whole essay moving forward and to the point.First of all, when writing a college essay you need to think about the topic first. What is the topic? Do you know? Who will read it? How many students will be reading it? How many professors? Before starting on your essay, you need to have a topic. Once you have this established, the rest of the writing is easy. Start by writing a title for your essay. You should never use the word 'My'Our.' Always write 'The.'Next, you need to set the outline. Your outline is where you begin with your first paragraph and then move forward. Think of it as your plot summary. You will write from the very beginning of your first paragraph until the very end of yo ur last paragraph. After this, you need to write the introduction and the conclusion of your piece. When you are writing your outline, think of yourself as a character in a novel. In the same way that you would think of a character in a novel, you will think of your topic as a part of your outline. Your outline will show where you started, where you ended, and what you want to cover in your piece. Then you need to begin with your opening paragraph. In order to have an opening paragraph that will spark your reader's interest, you need to establish your author. First of all, your author is someone who will be reading your essay. They will not necessarily be your professor. They may even be someone you know.It doesn't matter who your author is; the only thing that matters is that you need to write about their life. You need to tell them about yourself and your views on the subject. Don't worry about being sensational, just tell them what you believe. The only problem you might run into i s how to get your point across without sounding too preachy. Finally, you need to write the first three parts of your college essay. This is where you start to write the meat of your piece. You should look at your outline to get ideas and then decide what to write in your first paragraph.
